Playschool

At Brentwood's Learn and Play Playschool, children shape their curriculum based on interests we uncover throughout the year. By providing ample space, time, and materials, we engage children and inspire them to discover new concepts. Our approach includes risky play, all-weather activities, getting messy, and exploring the natural environment. We believe that when children have the freedom to explore and experiment in a safe and nurturing space, their natural curiosity and creativity can truly thrive.

Our educators serve as guides, observing children's interests and facilitating experiences that enhance their understanding and skills. Whether it's painting with unconventional tools, constructing forts from natural materials, or exploring the changing seasons through outdoor adventures, every day presents an opportunity for discovery and growth.

We also prioritize social connections and emotional development. Through collaborative play and group activities, children learn the values of empathy, communication, and cooperation. Our objective is to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are confident, inquisitive, and eager to engage with the world around them.

Our four day Playschool Program will be guided by Ms. Sam Woodley, who is well-known for her endless empathy, patience, and care. Growing up in Strathmore, Sam was a student at Brentwood before returning as an educational assistant in Kindergarten and grade 1. Over her five years with the school, she has supported a wide range of needs, including speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, ADHD, and Autism. In 2019, she initiated the development of the Before and After School program, and in 2021, with the support of her team, she expanded to include Playschool for three- and four-year-old's, which we are incredibly excited about.

Sam is committed to ongoing education and dedicates time to enhancing her knowledge through professional development training. She has also been invited to share her insights with new programs. Rest assured, you are in excellent hands! Sam is deeply devoted to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for every child in her care. Her approach focuses on establishing a safe, engaging, and stimulating atmosphere where children can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. She employs play-based learning strategies that accommodate the diverse needs of her students, ensuring that each child's unique abilities and interests are celebrated.

Her passion for education and steadfast commitment to her students make her an invaluable member of our school. We are delighted to have her leading our Playschool room and eagerly anticipate a wonderful year filled with discovery and joy under her guidance.
